Year 11 Mock InterviewsMarch 18, 2018 12:15 pm
Year 11 Students were given a taste of life after Elfed as they took part in mock interview event, with help of local businesses.
The students were interviewed by representatives from many different industries, including: Bank of America, Santander, Deloitte, Greystone and TTE. Employers assessed the students’ skills and provided valuable feedback to help them in future interviews.
A student who was interviewed, said: “It was quite nerve wracking to start off with, but I was given helpful advice by the staff beforehand and I learnt a lot from different parts of the conversation I had”.
The students were very well prepared for the interviews and impressed their respective business representative.
Da iawn! Well done to all involved on a fantastic learning experience.
Here’s the wonderful feedback from one of our interviewers…..
“All of the students I met with today had excellent communication skills. Whilst some were clearly nervous they were able to overcome this and I was taken aback by the variety of achievements they have accomplished by the age of 15 particularly those that are not academic related. Quite often in interview many of the candidates I see all have the same ‘standard’ technical ability, and in reality our pre interview assessments are designed to ensure this, so I always tend to focus in interview on those softer skills and whether someone has the ability to integrate, adapt and own their decisions rather than whether they are academically or technically able. All of the students demonstrated a high level of such softer skills, but also a real maturity in their emotional intelligence.
I really enjoyed meeting the students today and they are a real testament to the school and it’s values.”
