Information for Year 8

Year 8

Year 8 students had an excellent start at Elfed High School when they were in Year 7 last year.  As a year group they have shown us that they are prepared to work hard to achieve high standards and to meet the School’s expectations. In return, all the students are very well supported so that they can enjoy their time in school and achieve their own personal best.

Here you will find a list of the Year 8 tutors and how to contact them; plus who to contact if you have any concerns about learning and/or wellbeing.

Attendance

We aim for full attendance in Year 8 and ask Parents and Carers to avoid taking holidays in term time so that students do not miss out on learning opportunities.  Every lesson counts at Elfed High School.

ElfedExtra-StudyClubStudy Club

Year 8 students are welcome to come to Study Club in the Library from 8.30am to 8.50am and from 3.30pm to 4.00pm.

ElfedExtra-BreakfastClub Get Started Club

Year 8 students are welcome to come to the Dining Room between 8.15am and 8.50am for Get Started Club.  There are snacks and drinks available for your breakfast.  Take advantage of the opportunity to meet up with new friends and to have some support with learning and completing homework tasks.

Homework timetable for Key Stage 3

In Year 8 students should spend up to 30 minutes on each subject each week. Information about homework is recorded in the student planner.

They should also spend at least 15 minutes reading every day.  The Reading Log helps record what has been read.
