Welcome to Year 11
This is the second of the two years that will provide you with the opportunities to make the best of your life. We will work together to make sure that all our students achieve a standard of personal excellence at the end of Key Stage 4. We will see that students gain the Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification and the GCSE qualifications they need to go on to further education, training and the world of work.
We have very high expectations of every student in Year 11 in terms of effort and achievement. We will provide the support and guidance needed to make the most of the opportunities to excel.
Here you will find a list of the Year 11 tutors and how to contact them; plus who to contact if you have any concerns about learning and/or wellbeing.

Year 11 Examinations, Full Report and Progress Evening
All students in Year 11 will sit trial examinations during the Autumn Term. Some sit external GCSE examinations in November and January and all will be busy in the main exam period in May and June 2018. The high level of achievement in Year 10 external examinations this summer was a credit to the students.
On Friday 12th January 2018 we will send you a full progress report and you are invited to the Year 11 Progress Evening on Thursday 18th January 2018 (4.30pm – 7.00pm).
Year 11 students will complete their Work Experience placement in the week beginning Monday 21st November 2016.
We aim for full attendance in Year 11 and ask Parents and Carers to avoid taking holidays in term time so that students do not miss out on learning opportunities. Every lesson counts at Elfed High School.
Year 11 students are welcome to come to Study Club in the Library from 8.30am to 8.50am and from 3.30pm to 4.00pm.
Year 11 students are welcome to come to the Dining Room between 8.15am and 8.50am for Get Started Club. There are snacks and drinks available for your breakfast. Take advantage of the opportunity to meet up with new friends and to have some support with learning and completing home learningtasks.
We are keen to praise and reward our students with Vivo reward points for full attendance, punctuality and outstanding achievements. Parents and Carers can log on to their child’s on line account by using personal Vivo log in details. Please contact the Vivo Shop for further information about this scheme.
