ELFED Youth Theatre have devised and performed a play based on the floods that devastated North Wales last winter.

Members of Elfed Youth Theatre have helped to write and produce a play which was inspired by the floods that swept across North Wales. With the support of Drama Tutor, Laura Heap, the students thought up characters and stories to base the plot on. The play provided a peek into the lives of different people who were affected by the floods, including an elderly lady, a group of teenagers, emergency service operators and a young couple.

Elfed Youth Theatre leader, Laura Heap, said: “I’m exceptionally proud of Elfed Youth Theatre’s performance at the 60th Anniversary Concert.

“I have loved working with them throughout the year and look forward to watching them grow as we continue to develop their skills in acting and performing. They are a credit to Elfed High School and their families and it is an absolute pleasure to work with such a talented group of young people.”

A Year 8 Elfed Youth Theatre member said: “It was so good to be able to have a say in what happened in the play and what the characters were like.

“I enjoyed seeing how the characters developed and watching it how all came together. I loved that the play was inspired by real events. It felt great to do something different that no one has seen before. Elfed Youth Theatre is awesome because you can get involved with writing scripts, creating characters and there are loads of opportunities to act.”
